Without the following this web site would not have been possible...
The site is built using an award-winning content management system (CMS) called Joomla, an open-source solution that is freely available to everyone.
The school is extremely grateful to Steve Illingworth at Focus On Hosting Ltd. They have very kindly donated the site and domain hosting to the school. We're also very grateful for Steve's efforts in putting together the 'nuts and bolts' of the web site and making it all work so well.
Our grateful thanks also go to a number of individuals who have contributed content to make the site look good.
The school logo was provided by the children of the school! The splendid photographs of pupils around the school were kindly provided by Ella Woolner. Hannah Pearce took the photographs of the two churches and Polly Stanton provided the school site photographs. The cartoon school characters were drawn by Drew based on original drawings by the children.
One of the amazing things about working on a Joomla web site is just how much fantastic software is available for free. We gratefully acknowledge the following:
The web site Joomla template is a slightly customised version of "JA Purity" from Joomlart. There's a very good tutorial available for those needing a helping hand! In the spirit of open-source, if you'd like a copy of the customised template, send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we'll send it to you.
The Joomla plugin software driving the front page slide show is "Simple Picture Slideshow" by bretteleben.de. It works flawlessly and is very easy to use.
The Calendar and events engine is powered by "EventList" from schlu.net. It's a very powerful Joomla plugin which, although not designed for a school web site, does the job really well.
The rather good little calendar add-on for EventList is provided by Qivva Extensions.
The fading latest news and logo displays are done with a neat little module from JoomlaWorks. I looked long and hard to find this little gem, it's called Ultimate Content Display and I love it!
The downloads facility is powered by JDownloads from JoomlaAddons.de.
Another fantastic example of free software, providing lots of easy customisation to give you just the functionality you need.
The image light-box pop up display is a plugin called Mavik Thumbnails from Mavik Design in Russia and the image captions are implemented by a plugin called EasyImageCaption by Thomas Römer.
Although you can't see it in use on the web site, behind the scenes I've used the JCE content editor.
And finally, the Governors and staff are greatly indebted to Steve Pearce (ICT Governor) who donated many hours of his time co-coordinating and arranging the information on this site (whilst learning HTML, CSS, PHP, SQL, Joomla... ;)
