Tag Rugby Tournament

Tag Rugby Tournament – A Team Report

10th March 2017

This tournament was due to take place a couple of weeks ago but was postponed due to destructive storm Doris.  After a short walk to Shelford Rugby Club we were allocated our pitch and began to warm up.

Our team’s first game was against Sancton Wood School.  We won this game comfortably 9-5 with trys from Alex C, Daniel C and Charlie J.

We then faced Fulbourn Primary School and unfortunately lost 6-3.  It was a tough but fair game.  Our third game ended with a well deserved victory.  Our last game in the group stages was against St. Albans.  This was a tough game which resulted in a draw and a broken wrist for Elliot R.

We advanced to the semi finals against Cambridge International School.  Both teams fought hard and were level at the end of normal time.  The game went to extra time and sadly Shelford School lost to a golden try.  After this narrow defeat we surprisingly ended up facing the other Shelford team in the third place play off!  Our team clinched the victory and won the bronze medal.  Shelford team two won the ‘Spirit of the Games award’ and came fourth.  Both Shelford teams were winners on the day.

Tag Rugby Tournament – B Team Report

Two teams from Shelford School competed in a tag rugby tournament that took place at Shelford Rugby Club. Both teams performed very well, coming 3rd and 4th out of 10 teams. The 2nd team (group B) didn’t lose a game until the semi-finals. The 1st team (group A) also lost their semi-final so we ended up playing each other! It was a great game, but group A clinched it. Group B also won the ‘Spirit of the Game’ award which is a reward for demonstrating team work. Overall the tournament was great fun.
