Parents' Meetings

At Great and Little Shelford Primary School, we believe that an effective partnership between children, families and teachers is key to happiness and success.

Our parents' evenings, called Pupil/Parent/Teacher consultations, take place twice per year in the Autumn and Spring terms. These short focused meetings involve a reflective learning discussion between your child and their teacher which is observed by parents or carers. This is based on our Assertive Mentoring scheme.  This is followed by an opportunity for you to discuss your child's progress or any concerns you may have. There is also time for you to look through your child's recent work in all subject areas.

See the link below for how to get the most out of your meetings with your child and their teacher.
Please do not hesitate to speak to your child's class teacher if you have any concerns about their learning and/or well-being at any other time. Class teachers will be happy to arrange a mutually convenient time to talk with you.
In Autumn and Spring terms, we hold briefings for each class of parents hosted by the Headteacher and Class Teacher on a range of issues, usually relating to the School Improvement plan priorities. Recent briefings have focused on the following:

Spring term 2018
  • Conflict Resolution/Peer Mediation
  • Sex and Relationships Education (R - Yr 6)
  • Staff recruitment Q&AS
  • Statutory tests (Year 1 Phonic Check, KS1 SATs, KS2 SATs)

Autumn term 2017 - Mental Health and Well-being,
  • The Protective Ethos
  • Health and Safety
  • Care for well-being and welfare
  • Safeguarding procedures
  • Curriculum including PSHE
Briefings are held in conjunction with your child's class assembly and our weekly celebration assembly so that we make the most of our time together.
In addition, parents and carers are invited to school for our church services at Harvest, Nativity (FS/KS1) and Carols by Candlelight (KS2), Candlemas, Easter, Ascension and the Leavers' Service (Year 6).

There are a number of musical performances; Instrumentalists' concert, Choir and Orchestra concert and the end-of-year KS2 performance.

Finally there are many well-established PTA events for the whole family to enjoy; Christmas Fair, Quiz, Summer Fair and the PTA camp-out.
