We endeavour to provide a place at Rainbow for all children who apply. If there are a high number of applicants, the places will be allocated to Sunbeams children based on geographic proximity to the school and time on the waiting list. Priority for Pre-school places will be given to those already attending Sunbeams, then places will be allocated based on geographical location and time spent on the waiting list. Where there is high demand for a particular session, the school management has discretion to decide how places will be offered. They will consider all the circumstances and offer places in the fairest way possible.
Admission to Rainbow does not have any bearing on application to the Primary School for Reception year. Parents will apply for Reception places for the academic year in which a child turns five.
For those children who go on to Shelford Primary School, the transition from Rainbow to Reception Class could not be easier. By the time the children start school, they are already familiar with the location of their Reception classroom, the playground, toilets and the hall. Systems are also in place to help children who take up places at other schools in the area.
