The Hive

Welcome to the Hive!

We are an inclusive space for a group of up to 12 leaners who have or are awaiting an ECHP. All learners access a bespoke curriculum based on their individual needs. Learning is ambitious, multi-sensory and includes regular enrichment, such as: weekly forest sessions, learning through life-skills, practical trips and visits. Learning in the Hive meets children's academic goals in a way that works for them. Snapshots of our learning will be posted on this page weekly and families have access to a dedicated online space to share learning moments.

Arriving at the Hive:

Children attending the Hive in the mornings will come into school via the Office. Parents and carers should also collect children from the office at the end of the day.

Timings:

The Hive operates a soft start from 8:45-9:15 so that children who are sensitive to noise and busy environments can come in after the business of whole-school drop-off. Families may drop their child off at any time in this window. Our official day will end at 3pm and then you may collect your child anytime between 3pm and 3:30pm. Children will have calm, choosing time after 3pm until pick-up.

PE: PE is on Wednesday mornings with our sports coach- Eddie- please come in PE kit.

Forest school: We do our learning in the Forest School area on Tuesdays- please come with wellies and in appropriate clothing for outdoor fun.

Week 3 in the Hive:

we have had a lovely week this week as everyone has got used to their new routines and space. It has been lovely to see everyone become comfortable in the hive and the children have really embodied our school values helping and celebrating each other.

This week we have:

Had an amazing visit from police officer Chris and he even let us go in his car

All worked hard on our learning from super year 6 writing about their text ‘the explorer’, to a year 3 project on German and Leipzig zoo, lots of awesome reading, writing maths and phonics and even maths investigations about Australian animals.

Baked healthy banana muffins and thought about the food groups

Been on a walk to the bakery where we used great maths skills working out amounts and change and showed great communication, donuts seem to be a hive favourite we then went to the park where it was wonderful to see children helping each other

Forest school where we had fun with walkie talkies, did conker rolling art, and made clay boggarts after reading a story about the myth of the boggarts.

Music

In our worship sessions we did sensory stories about the lost sheep and Jesus blessing the children. We even blessed our own babies.

Our first two full weeks in the Hive!

How has it already been two weeks?! We have been so busy in the Hive and we have had lots of fun learning and getting to know each other.

Our first days in the Hive:

We have had a lovely first two days back getting to know each other and exploring our new space. We are learning about each other, getting to know our routines and doing lots of exciting learning.

This week we have:
